A Love Story of Swaying Leaves: From a Barn Wedding to a Tulbeh Celebration

I have to share with you this beautiful couple’s story: Abed & Juju.

When Abed and Juju first walked into Maraseel, I couldn’t help but notice something special about them. It wasn't just the usual excitement I see in couples planning their big day—it was the way they seemed to speak a language all their own. A glance here, a smile there, and suddenly, they were on the same page without saying a word. It reminded me of the kind of love that weaves itself into every detail of your life, where even silence is filled with understanding. Their connection was palpable, and it instantly pulled me in.

Now, let me tell you about their wedding plans. Abed and Juju had their hearts set on a barn wedding, one of those dreamy, picture-perfect celebrations tucked away in the countryside, with rolling hills as far as the eye can see and trees that whisper secrets in the wind. You could almost feel the leaves swaying gently, the sunlight trickling through the branches, casting a warm, golden glow over everything. It was the kind of scene that makes you believe in love stories, the kind that you want to hold onto forever.

When they came to Maraseel, they had a vision. Juju, with her eyes full of excitement, said, “We want leaves that sway.” And just like that, I could see it all unfolding in my mind. The leaves weren’t just part of the scenery; they were a symbol of the love that flowed so naturally between them, a love that was alive, moving, and beautiful. It was a request that tugged at my heartstrings because it wasn’t about creating just another wedding invitation. It was about capturing the essence of a moment that would forever be etched in their memories.

So, we got to work. And when I say we poured our hearts into it, I mean every single detail was crafted with care, with love, and with the hope that it would bring their vision to life in the most magical way possible. The leaves on the invitation weren’t just drawn—they were alive, each one delicately designed to sway as if touched by a gentle breeze. We chose paper that echoed the natural elegance of their venue, something that felt as timeless and enduring as their love.

As we worked, I couldn’t help but think about the significance of these invitations. They weren’t just pieces of paper with words on them; they were a tangible expression of Abed and Juju’s love, something they could hold in their hands, something they could share with the people they cherished most. And long after the wedding day had come and gone, these invitations would remain as keepsakes, reminders of a day when love was celebrated in all its glory.

Fast forward to today, and I find myself sitting here, reflecting on another beautiful couple who recently walked through our doors—Mohamed and Zahraa. Much like Abed and Juju, they had that same glow about them, that same shared understanding that spoke volumes without a single word being uttered. But this time, they weren’t here for a wedding. No, this was something different, something that held a deep cultural significance—something that, once again, reminded me why I do what I do.

Mohamed and Zahraa were preparing for their Tulbeh, a tradition that is near and dear to many of us. For those who might not be familiar, a Tulbeh is a special moment in our culture where the groom formally asks the bride’s family for her hand in marriage. It’s a beautiful tradition that carries with it a profound sense of respect, love, and commitment. When Mohamed and Zahraa shared their story with me, I could see how much this moment meant to them, how much love and care they were putting into every detail.

This was the first time we had ever been asked to design invitations for a Tulbeh, and I have to admit, I was deeply moved by the opportunity. There was something incredibly special about knowing that our work would be a part of such an important and meaningful event. As Mohamed described the importance of this day, I could see the love he had for Zahraa shining through in every word. He was about to cross borders, quite literally, to ask for her hand, and he wanted to make sure that every detail was perfect—including the invitations.

As we worked on Mohamed and Zahraa’s invitations, I found myself thinking back to Abed and Juju’s wedding. Both couples had come to us with a desire to create something that was uniquely theirs, something that reflected their love story and their values. And just like with Abed and Juju, we poured our hearts into every aspect of Mohamed and Zahraa’s invitations, making sure that they were not just beautiful, but meaningful. The design we chose reflected the deep cultural roots of the Tulbeh, with motifs that spoke to tradition and love, woven together in a way that was both elegant and timeless.

When the day finally came for Mohamed and Zahraa to pick up their invitations, I felt a deep sense of pride and gratitude. I handed them their invitation suite, knowing that it wasn’t just paper and ink—it was a symbol of love, commitment, and the beautiful journey they were about to embark on together. The smile on Zahraa’s face and the look in Mohamed’s eyes said it all. They were thrilled, and I couldn’t have been happier to have played a small part in their story.

As I sit here, reflecting on these two love stories—one that began with a barn wedding and another with a Tulbeh—I’m reminded of why I started Maraseel in the first place. It’s moments like these that fill my heart with joy, moments where love, culture, and tradition come together in the most beautiful way. At Maraseel, we’re not just creating cards; we’re capturing moments, telling stories, and celebrating love in all its forms. Whether it’s a wedding under the stars or a Tulbeh that spans borders, we’re here to make each occasion unforgettable.

I often think about the couples who walk through our doors, the ones who trust us to bring their visions to life. Each couple is unique, each love story is different, but the one thing they all share is a desire to create something meaningful, something that will stand the test of time. And that’s exactly what we strive to do at Maraseel.

Looking back on the journey from Abed and Juju’s barn wedding to Mohamed and Zahraa’s Tulbeh, I’m filled with a deep sense of fulfillment. These are the moments that make everything worthwhile—the late nights, the countless revisions, the endless pursuit of perfection. Because in the end, it’s all about love. It’s about creating something that will be cherished, something that will bring joy, something that will be remembered.

So, here’s to Abed and Juju, Mohamed and Zahraa, and to all the couples who have trusted us with their love stories. We’re honored to be a part of these significant moments, and we look forward to creating many more magical memories together.

At the heart of it all, Maraseel is more than just a business—it’s a celebration of love, culture, and tradition. It’s about taking the time to understand what matters most to each couple, and then bringing that vision to life in a way that is both beautiful and meaningful. Whether it’s the sway of leaves at a barn wedding or the deep cultural significance of a Tulbeh, we’re here to make sure that every detail is just right.

As I think about the future, I’m excited for all the love stories that have yet to be written, all the couples who will come to us with their dreams and visions. I’m excited to continue doing what we do best—capturing moments, telling stories, and celebrating love in all its beautiful forms. Because at the end of the day, that’s what Maraseel is all about. It’s about love. It’s about culture. It’s about tradition. And most importantly, it’s about creating something that will be cherished for a lifetime.

With all my love and gratitude,

Farah ♥️
